CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS AT THE ANTITRUST DIVISION

Tony Nanni and I are going to talk about criminal investigations at the Antitrust Division. I am going to talk about how we find the matters to investigate, how we go about the preliminary stages of the investigation, and some procedural notions about empaneling grand juries. Tony will address how we exercise our discretion, how we obtain immunity for individuals we think will advance the investigation through truthful testimony, plea agreements, and approval of proposed criminal antitrust
