Detection of Avian Respiratory Diseases from Experimental Infected Chickens by Multiplex PCR

2001
IBV,ILTV,NDV and MG are four major avian respiratory pathogens in poultry industry. For rapid diagnosis,a multiplex PCR was preliminary developed. In order to evaluate the efficacy of the multiplex PCR to detect and differetiate more than one respiratory agent from practic clinical specimen.4_week_old SPF chickens and nonvaccination chickens were experimentally inoculated with the four pathogens in different ways.Clinical specimen collected from inoculated and contact_infected chickens were simutaniously subjected to the multiplex PCR and traditional methods such as,pathogen isolation and sereological test. The analysis showed that the multiplex PCR was much more rapid and sensitive than the traditional methods. The results suggested that the multiplex PCR was a useful and applicable tecnique to the poultry industry.
