Significance of lipoprotein lipase in rat skeletal muscle.

Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) mediates the removal of plasma triglycerides in extrahepatic tissues. Utilization of plasma triglycerides by adipose tissue is related to its LPL activity. LPL activities in adipose tissue and heart have been extensively studied but that in skeletal muscles has not.
