Resistance to Drugs and Plasmid Diversity in Bacterium Vibrio alginolyticus in Hainan Province

2012
The resistance of 30 strains of bacterium Vibrio alginolyticus, one of the main pathogens in aquaculture,to 24 kinds of antibiotics was studied and the diversity of their plasmids was detected. All of the strains were found to have resistance to lincomycin, acetyl spiramycin, vancomycin, clindamycin and nystatin, with the resistance rates from 20.8% to 66.7% to the 24 antibiotics, indicating that V.alginolyticus showed strong multi-drug resistance in this region.Among the 30 strains, eight strains carried one to three plasmids from 1.20 kb to 12.5 kb and formed seven types of plasmid fingerprintings. No significant relationship was observed between the multi-drug resistance and the plasmids of V.alginolyticus, indicating that their drug resistance is involved in the gemomics.
