Elemente principale ale noului ghid de prevenţie cardiovasculară

2016
Prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the foundation on which any healthy population should be based, and the last 30 years have shown us how important it is in reducing cardiovascular mortality, streamline health system and decreased medical costs. The last guide on Cardiovascular Prevention of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) advocates an approach to the entire population, based on the fact that ”minor changes in risk factors performed consistently over an entire population will lead to their significant decreases in comparison with major changes addressed only to individuals with high risk”. This approach has a general addressability, with an impact on the entire course of life, reducing inequalities in health in the long term. If we were to exemplify an average European country, we could say that reducing CVD risk in population by only 1% would result a dicrease by 25,000 cases and would save up to 40 million euros each year.
