A novelPowerQuality (PQ)monitoring and report-back system isdesigned inthis paper toachieve thegoal ofreal-time PQmonitoring andrecording. TheMCU usedin theproposed analyzer isC805IF320 designed by Silicon Laboratories. C805IF320isan integrated mixed-signal System-on-a-Chip MCU featuring Universal Serial Bus(USB) interface; therefore, itcanbe usedforhigh-speed and large-quantity datatransmission. A USB-based PQ analyzer withappropriately designed I/0interface andperipherals is designed andimplemented firstly. Then, twoHuman-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)designed forPersonal Computer (PC)and Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)aredeveloped. TheHMIfor PDA canachieve thePQ monitoring withtinyvolumeand mobility requirements. Besides, aGlobal SystemforMobile communication (GSM)module isdeveloped andintegrated into theproposed analyzer torealize thereport-back system. When PQ indices suchastotal harmonic distortion exceedthe predetermined limit, amessage will besenttooperator's cell phonebytheshort message service ofGSM.Operators can thenidentify thePQ problems happened atthemonitoring place. Allfunctions implemented inthis paper canrealize the intelligent andreal-time PQmonitoring andreport-back system. Experimental results demonstrate thevalidity oftheproposed system.
