A study of the inter-relationships between employees' job satisfaction and their demographic characteristics.

1999
Past empirical studies have suggested that employee's job satisfaction is related to age, length of employment, job level, marital status, and educational level. This study examines the relationships between demographic characteristics of hotel employees and job satisfaction using of Hong Kong hotel employees as a case for illustration. The findings show that there are significant differences between demographic variables of employees and the six Job Descriptive Index (JDI) categories. It is suggested that various training and development programmes, particularly for newcomers and well‐educated employees, a total quality management approach may help to improve job satisfaction.
