The Mesozoic history of Wales

1984
The history of Wales during the Mesozoic is reconstructed by extrapolation from surrounding areas and by comparing Wales with the London Massif and Cornubia. It is concluded that Wales accumulated Triassic sediments only on its margins. In the Jurassic a discontinuous sequence of marine sediments is likely to have overlain much of Wales. The Lower Cretaceous saw erosion over Wales but by the latest Cretaceous most of the Principality had been inundated by the sea.
