Quality enhancement of continuous cast slabs by predicting segregation defects

Relations between continuous casting parameters and quality of continuous cast slabs are established. A model for predicting slab quality is developed. On that basis, a new casting technology is proposed; its distinguishing feature is that consumable cooling blocks are introduced into the mold to suppress internal defects.
