The gene for membrane protein E16 (D16S469E) maps to human chromosome 16q24.3 and is expressed in human brain, thymus, and retina

An approach to identifying genes expressed in different tissues is to characterize large numbers of clones from cDNA libraries by single-pass sequencing. We have added to the characterization of some sequences identified in this manner by mapping them to chromosomes using PCR amplification from somatic cell hybrid panels. Using this process, we mapped the gene for membrane protein E16 (D16S469E) to human chromosome 16q24.3. 9 refs., 1 fig.
