Soil water capacity prediction

1991
Abstract Wet soils, those with low-tension water, are defined as soils holding water at a tension of 10 hPa or less. Data from soil clods equilibrated at 5 hPa absorption tension were used to develop a regression equation for predicting the water contents of wet soils. A test using a different set of noncorrelated data showed good agreement between results as predicted by the equation and measured values of soil water at 5 hPa. Soil clods equilibrated at 5 hPa tension held water that approximated the water quantity held after free wetting.
