Combined behavior therapy and physical therapy in the treatment of a fear of walking

Abstract In neuropsychiatric patients in whom anxiety appears to play a major role in the maintenance of a physical disability, a combined program of behavior and physical therapies is suggested. An illustrative case is presented demonstrating the effectiveness of progressive desensitization of fears relating to ambulating along with a program of physical therapy.
