SIMULATION STRATEGIES TO PREDICT SEISMIC RESPONSE OF RC STRUCTURES. IN: FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES

2001
This study performed seismic analyses of reinforced concrete structures using the finite element method. Two shake table tests were simulated: a test of a lightly reinforced concrete three story frame building, and a test of a seismically designed shear wall. An investigation was performed on the effects of modeling boundary conditions and of considering the initial micro-cracking of concrete on natural frequency change. The parameters are then used to calibrate finite element models to experimental models. The paper provides information on the results of the analyses of both structures.
