Numerical and experimental study on optimal control for active vibration suppression of the antenna structure

2015
This paper presents an initial investigation to optimally control structural vibrations of the antenna based on adaptive structure technology. The dynamic model of the antenna structure is first yielded by Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in Patran/Nastran. A LQG controller is then designed according to the dynamic equations. The simulations of different resonant frequency disturbances and non-zero initial state disturbances are performed in Matlab/simulink. The simulation results show that the active vibration control (AVC) system is stable when the low-order controller is activated in the high-order simulation model. The experiments are performed on the active vibration control system of the antenna structure. The experimental results demonstrate that the controller works effectively to attenuate the vibration of the actual antenna structures.
