Comparison study of thermal flow field simulation for acetylene production from coal plasma pyrolysis

The flow of a plasma reactor for acetylene production from coal was introduced.Its disadvantages including coking seriously,great heat consumption,short running time,low efficiency and small load were briefly described.In order to reduce or suppress these deficiencies of coal,optimal simulation and comparison study were conducted on thermal flow field at different velocities(at default plasma temperature of 5000 K) by using GAMBIT and FLUENT software packages.The results show that the coal pyrolysis has the reaction space for full reaction and heat utilization under the gas flow rate of 70 m/s,and the anti-coking effect is the best since the outlet temperature is 3700 K and the outlet velocity is 18 m/s.
