Vivir, educar y luchar en el campo. Acciones y coaliciones de pobladores rurales

In this paper we analyze actions undertaken by rural peoples in the Provinces of Chaco and Buenos Aires, Argentina, that we interpret as social and political struggles. Their actions are geared towards confronting unjust living conditions, such as uprooting, difficulty in accessing basic living conditions or illnesses related to fumigation, amongst others, produced by the hegemonic agro-industrial model in rural areas. Our analysis shows that the actions rural people undertake are oriented towards a) supporting a way of living that is chosen by them, b) building coalitions, and c) a complex set of relations in regards life, territory, education and health. These actions, additionally, challenge the statu-quo. Our methodology is based on a semantic analysis of key terms, which we interpret are related to each other in complex ways. We conclude that the actions of the rural people with whom we work may be invisible to many, but when interpreted in light of our framework, it becomes evident that they are political in nature.
