She had never menstruated despite normal serum levels of follicle-stimulating and leutinizing-hormones, 17-ketosteroids and prolactin. Physical examination showed mild cliteromegaly and moderate hypertrichosis of the face and back. Pelvic sonography showed no abnormality. Type II diabetes mellitus had been diagnosed at the age of 13 years. The patient was treated initially with oral hyperglycemic agents; however, two years later she required therapy with insulin.
