Method for producing mixture comprising cis- and trans-dimethyl 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate

2013
[Problem] To produce a cis-isomer and trans-isomer mixture of dimethyl 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate, which has a high cis-isomer ratio, from dimethyl terephthalate. [Solution] This method for producing a mixture comprising cis-dimethyl 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate (c-DMCD) and trans-dimethyl 1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate (t-DMCD) comprises: a step in which a solid mixture comprising c-DMCD and t-DMCD is precipitated by maintaining a liquid mixture of c-DMCD and t-DMCD at 14 to 71°C; and a step, following the aforementioned step, in which solid-liquid separation is carried out on the aforementioned solid mixture, producing a liquid mixture in which the percentage content of c-DMCD is higher than that of the previous liquid mixture that is maintained at 14 to 71°C. Furthermore, the method for producing the c-DMCD and t-DMCD mixture involves controlling the temperature of the product of a hydrogenation reaction at 85 to 170°C after conducting a hydrogenation reaction on dimethyl terephthalate.
