Investigation of low-temperature sintering of Z-type hexaferrite with Bi(Co),Zn substitution and Bi_2O_3 additive

2011
Z-type hexaferrite material with Bi(Co),Zn substitution and Bi2O3 additive were prepared by solid-state reaction method. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Electromagnetic properties were investigated using an impedance analyzer.Experimental results showed that minor Bi substitution does not destroy the phase formation of Z-type hexagonal ferrite, but lower the phase formation temperature distinctly, and that Zn substitution leads to an increase in initial permeability. The best result was obtained for sample with composition Ba3-xBixCo2+x-yZny Fe24-xO41(x=0.15,y=0.8) sintered at 900℃ containing 2wt% of bismuth oxide as a sintering additive. Its initial permeability reaches 4.2.
