Urethane (meth)acrylate containing cyclic carbonate group

1996
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new cyclic carbonate group-containing urethane (meth) acrylate which is useful as a coating material, an adhesive and a repairing material for dental surgery, whose polymerization is not inhibited with oxygen in the atmosphere and which is large in polymerization rate. SOLUTION: This cyclic carbonate group-containing monomer is expressed by formula I [R 1 is H, methyl; R 2 is H, (meth)acryl; A is an n-valent or m-valent 2-30C hydrocarbon which may be intermitted with one or more ether, ester, amido, urethane or urea groups or may be substituted with one to five (meth) acrylate groups; (n) is 0-3; (m) is 1-4], e.g. a monomer of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a hydroxy compound of formula III with a mono-, di-, tri-or tetra-isocyanate. The (meth)acrylate is preferably compounded in an amount of approximately 5-60wt.% in the repairing material. The monomer is further useful for producing plates for lithography.
