A comparative analysis of mono-tube shock absorbers with different valve systems

2020
The paper is a comparison of the effectiveness of operation of mono-tube hydraulic shock absorbers of modified designs with a shock absorber of classical construction. A non-linear model of the system was developed, enabling the testing of the effect of various oil flow control strategies on the system dynamic responses. Damping characteristic have been determined, which - with appropriate selection of parameters - depends on the amplitude and the frequency of excitation. The effect of harmonic excitation of variable amplitude and frequency on selected characteristics of driving comfort and safety was examined in numerical simulations carried out for a quarter-car model of a vehicle. The results of numerical analyses have shown high effectiveness of operation of modified shock absorbers.
