Synthesis of chiral macrocycles: I. Synthesis and study of cyclo ( N α -dinicotinoyl)pentapeptide candidates

A series of linear tetrapeptides and macrocyclic pentapeptides has been synthesized starting with N,N-bis(1-carboxy-2-substituted)-3,5-diaminocarbonyl)pyridine and N,N-bis(1-hydrazonyl-2-substituted)-3,5-diaminocarbonyl)pyridine. Structures of newly synthesized compounds were elucidated by IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and MS spectral data and elemental analysis.
