Multicentric analysis of the species distribution and antifungal susceptibility of cryptic isolates from Aspergillus section Fumigati.

Antifungal susceptibility of Aspergillus cryptic species is poorly known. We assessed 51 isolates belonging to 7 Fumigati cryptic species, by EUCAST reference method and concentration gradient strips (CGS). Species-specific patterns were observed, with high minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) for azole drugs, except for A. hiratsukae and A. tsurutae, and high MICs for amphotericin B for A. lentulus and A. udagawae. Essential and categorical agreements between EUCAST and CGS were between 53.3 and 93.3%.
