Implementation And Learning Outcomes Of School Experience Course In Teacher Education Programs

It is of utmost importance to train those teachers who will prepare the hu- man resources that are necessary to form an “information society” in the present age. The recent developments, especially the global and competitive mentality, have accelerated the studies which investigate the quality of education. In this con- text, various subjects such as the increase in the demand of education in our society, expanding and improving the quality of education, time span of education and espe- cially educating the institutions that train teachers are being constantly discussed in different platforms. The Higher Education Council of Turkey, to address the same concerns, has decided to update the teacher training programs with regards to the national needs in addition to scientific arguments and to rearrange the School Experience which is one of the occupational courses in Education. This study aims to help the practicing teachers as well as the teacher candi- dates by developing suggestions to ease the implementation of the School Experi- ence course in accordance with field practices concept. Moreover, contribution is also made to gain higher education proficiencies through the learning outcomes that are already determined for the School Experience course.
