Lymphatic microvessel density in tongue squamous cell carcinoma correlate with lymphatic metastasis

2009
Objective To analyse the correlation of the density of lymphatic microvessel with lymphatic metastasis in the tongue squamous cell carcinoma. To discuss the effect of determination of the density of lymphatic microvessel in evaluation lymphatic metastasis of the tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Methods Making use of immunohistochemistry to research, the lymphatic microvessel was marked with D2-40.The density of lymphatic microvessel was counted. Results LMVD value(33.24 ±0.09)in the tongue squamous cell carcinoma was higher than in the normal tongue mucosa(6.23 ±0.23),P<0.05.LMVD value in lymphatic metastasis(38.15 ±0.35)group was higher than in the non-lymphatic metastasis group(27.56 ±0.05),P<0.05.Conclusions The density of lymphatic microvessel is associated with the lymphatic metastasis of the tongue squamous cell carcinoma. It has sense to determin the density of lymphatic microvessel in evaluation lymphatic metastasis of the tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Key words: Tongue squamous cell carcinoma; D2-40; Lymphatic microvessel density; Immunohistochemistry
