PERFORMANCES AND FLEXIBILITY OF A SMART CARD TOLL COLLECTION SYSTEM

Electronic Toll Collection systems are becoming more and more important in the field of road transportation. In this article some general information is supplied about Electronic Toll Collection systems. Then the main characteristics and achieved performances of the HAMLET 2 system based upon a Smart Card are provided in order to show the feasibility and the high level of quality of such a system.
