Research and Backoff Algorithm Improvement of Statistical Priority-based Multiple Access Protocol

2020
With the rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicle technology and satellite communication technology, Aeronautical Ad-hoc Network (AANET) has gradually become a hot spot of current research. Statistical Priority-based Multiple Access (SPMA) protocol can be well applied to the MAC protocol of AANET because of its excellent performance. In this paper, we propose an improved backoff algorithm and analyze the performance of the algorithm in SPMA protocol. Combining the mathematical model and queuing theory, we get the mathematical expressions of successful transmission rate, delay and throughput of the protocol, which are verified by simulation. The results show that the improved backoff algorithm can significantly reduce the transmission delay when the traffic load is high. The protocol can support multi-priority services, while guaranteeing high-priority services with very high successful transmission rate and very low latency, and it still has good stability when the traffic load is high.
