The invention relates to a method for controlling an actuator (104; 204) of a seat-based occupant protection device of a vehicle. The method includes a step of receiving a trigger signal which is designed to display a triggering decision to trigger the seat based occupant protection device and a step of generating a disable signal for disabling the actuator (104; 204) on the trigger signal and an enable signal.
