The invention discloses a novel pinion cutter which comprises a tooth disc and tooth-shaped knives distributed on the periphery of the tooth disc and uniform in chordal tooth thickness. The tooth-shaped knives which are uniformly distributed around include at least one tooth-shaped knife with chordal tooth thickness different from the rest, and choral tooth thickness of the tooth-shaped knives is integer multiples that of other tooth-shaped knives while tooth pitch of the same is 1.5 or 2.5 or 3.5 multiples that of other tooth-shaped knives. By the novel pinion cutter, part of unnecessary teeth can be removed while standard tooth shapes are machined, so that conventional tooth shape forming processes of special teeth are changed, and machining time is reduced; positioning for two times is not needed in the process of machining, so that machining accuracy is improved greatly, and defects of unevenness during tooth root transition are avoided.
