Catalysis and pollution abatement: the removal of hypochlorite from waste chlorine/caustic effluent
1996
Abstract In the chlorine industry, waste chlorine/caustic effluents containing sodium hypochlorite are common and their discharge to the environment is strictly regulated. A technology has been developed for the selective decomposition of hypochlorite using a fixed bed, catalytic reaction. The insights gained into the chemical and physical mechanisms that determine the efficacy of the technology will be outlined.
