Improvement in extinction ratio of silicon-silica hybrid thermooptic switch by using UV laser trimming technique

We describe an 8-channel switch with a low power of 0.7 mW/channel based on a silicon-silica hybrid structure. We improve the extinction ratio from 3 dB to > 15 dB by using a laser trimming.
