Voltammetric determination of the redox potential of bacterial ferredoxins: Clostridium thermocellum ferredoxin
1984
Abstract The redox properties of ferredoxins have been studied using the gold electrode in the presence of methyl viologen. A redox potential value of −0.42 ± 0.01 V/n.h.e. is confirmed for Clostridium pasteurianum ferredoxin. For the thermostable C. thermocellum ferredoxin, a redox potential value of −0.43 ± 0.01 V/n.h.e. is obtained. The electrochemical activation is attributed to the presence of methyl viologen adsorbed onto the gold electrode surface.
