Transparent Glass-based Directional Loudspeaker

An ultra-thin transparent glass-based directional loudspeaker is proposed in the paper. This novel loudspeaker may provide a private listening service with the technology of the audio directional loudspeaker. The transparent transducer is structured and assembled by fifty-four elements fabricated by Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF). Frequency response and sound pressure level characteristics are simulated. And the prototype sample based on PVDF transducer array is constructed in the structure defined by simulation and its acoustic characteristics are measured. The comparison of the experimental results with simulation result indicates the feasibility of utilizing the glass-based directional loudspeaker in the home and portable devices. By improving the fabrication techniques and optimizing the structure, screen loudspeaker would be the best solution as the multimedia devices.
