A monitoring system yields for a DWDM network, comprising: a first integrated photonic device (112, 212), configured to receive a first optical signal and providing at the output, a first plurality of electrical signals to a first plurality channel, respectively, wherein the first plurality of channels corresponding to a first plurality of ranges of wavelengths associated with the first optical signal; a first device clock and data recovery (114, 214), configured to receive the first plurality of electrical signals and to resynchronize the first plurality of electrical signals; a first switching device (116, 216), coupled to the first device clock and data recovery (114, 214), without a correction device coupled error between the first device clock and data retrieval and the first switching device (116, 216); a first interface (117, 217), the first switching device (116, 216), wherein the first interface (117, 217) configured to provide, at the output, a second plurality of electrical signals; a second interface (118, 218), the first switching device (116, 216), the second interface (118, 218) configured to insert or remove one or more channels being; the interface device insertion / removal (119) is configured to receive an electrical signal from the CDR device (113) to convert the electrical signal into an optical signal and to provide, at the output, the optical signal to one or more user channels can be inserted or removed from the network or to receive an optical signal from a user channel for converting the optical signal into an electrical signal and to provide, to output the electrical signal to the CDR device (113), characterized in that the second interface is coupled to a device error correction forward FEC (111), a device clock recovery CDR (113) data and an interface device insertion / removal (119); an output port (234) in the first switching device (216), configured to provide information associated with one of the first plurality of channels; and a device for error detection (231), coupled to the output port (234), wherein the detection device error (231) is configured to monitor and report the performance of one of the first plurality of channels, wherein the error detection device (231) comprises a decoder error correction forward only.
