An experimental program of the effects of different types of bolted connection used for column-tree steel moment connections was performed in this study. For this purpose, two full scale specimens were fabricated and tested, one with slip critical bolted splice of beams and the other with bearing type bolted splice. The experimental results showed that the slip critical splice specimen successfully developed ductile behavior without brittle fracture until 5% radians story drift ratio, however for the bearing type splice specimen, the beam flange fractured at the 4.0% story drift ratio due to stress concentration in the weld access hole regions. However the energy dissipation capacity of the bearing type splice specimen was better than that of the slip critical splice specimen until the 4.0% story drift ratio.
