RFLP Standardization Report for C4/PvuII

Figure 1 shows the results of Southern blot analysis of core cell line DNAs using the restriction endonuclease PvuII and C4 probe (1). A 3.69 kb fragment was common to all samples tested; no correlation is evident between RLFP and A and B alleles of the fourth complement component. Analyzing the pattern obtained, 15 of 16 cell lines sharing C4 alleles (excluding C4QO alleles) presented all the fragments detected (3.69, 3.22, and 0.80 kb), whereas 6 out of 8 cell lines carrying either AQ0 or BQ0 lacked the second fragment.
