Sequential Combination of Ruthenium-, Base-, and Gold-Catalysis — A New Approach to the Synthesis of Medicinally Important Heterocycles.

The novel method for the synthesis of 2-[(Z)-butadienyl]phenylamines, quinolines, phenanthridines, and azepines involves ring-closing metathesis, base-induced ring opening, intra- and intermolecular hydroamination and [4 + 2] cycloaddition reactions.
