Primary Cutaneous Lymphomas

Primary cutaneous T- and B-cell lymphomas are a heterogeneous group of malignancies with varied clinical presentation and prognosis. The application of molecular, histological, and clinical criteria have allowed for a better characterization of defined entities with distinct features. The World Health Organization and European Organization of Research and Treatment of Cancer (WHO-EORTC) classification for cutaneous lymphomas provides a consensus categorization that allows for more uniform diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. Approximately 80% of the cutaneous lymphomas are of T cell origin. Mycosis fungoides and Sezary syndrome have a formal staging system proposed by the International Society for Cutaneous Lymphomas and EORTC. The other cutaneous non-Hodgkin lymphomas are staged using the same system, described previously, for lymphomas presenting in other anatomic locations.
