Combination chemotherapy in treatment of pleural and pericardial metastases secondary to prostatic carcinoma

Abstract Two patients with serosal metastases from prostatic carcinoma who failed to respond to hormonal manipulation are described. Following combination chemotherapy with nitrogen mustard and 5- fluorouracil given for several months, favorable responses were observed. Further trials of this combination in patients with pleural and/or pericardial spread of prostatic cancer appears warranted.
