Impact of Environmental Concern Factors on Lung Diseases Using Machine Learning

2022
During the first 20 years of life, it was very challenging to find out whether the lungs are damaged or not. Many times, people unknowingly come in contact with the factors that could impact their lungs drastically. These damaging factors lead to the small growth of the lungs which ultimately affects the functioning of lungs. First, it is very important to understand the factors that are having a high impact on the lungs so that based on those factors precautionary measures can be taken and the nutrition score can be evaluated. Keeping this concern in mind, the research study has been carried out on the available dataset, and then the random forest classifier was used, which achieved an optimum accuracy for analyzing the impact of risk factors and nutrition score based on spirometry and technique scores of forced oscillation. The analysis revealed that individuals having high exposure to risk factors, like working in furnace/foundry/farming/flour mills, commute via road having high traffic, etc., can have FEV1 > 45. Similarly, other lung function tests like PEF, R20 were analyzed, and also, the study found that proper intake of proteins, iron, antioxidants, and carbohydrates can protect the lungs from damage.
