The method comprises the following steps: an automatic patrolling management server generates a testing execution command list according to preset patrolling plan information and initiates testing execution commands according to startup time defined in the testing execution command list; a plurality of patrolling terminals distributed in a plurality of networks call and execute corresponding script files to patrol network elements in networks where the patrolling terminals are positioned according to the testing execution commands and transmit patrolling results to the automatic patrolling management server; and the automatic patrolling management server alarms according to the received patrolling results. By adopting the method and the system, an automatic testing patrolling function is realized, the system application problem and network abnormity can be found in time, the reliability of the patrolling results is enhanced, and patrolling time is shortened.
