Oxidation of allylic and benzylic alcohols (I), (III) and (VII) to the corresponding carboxylic acids (V), (VI), and (IX) is achieved by merging a Cu-catalyzed oxidation using dioxygen as a terminal oxidant with subsequent chlorite oxidation.
