The influence of hydroxyurea on the incorporation of exogenous DNA into host cells

Abstract The incorporation of exogenous isologous DNA into nuclei was studied in L-cells of replicating and non-replicating DNA. Hydroxyurea was used to inhibit DNA replication. The amount of exogenous DNA incorporated into cells decreased after the application of hydroxyurea by about a third. In the course of a 60-minute incubation exogenous DNA was incorporated into 75% of non-replicating DNA cells.
