Regulation of Hematopoietic Differentiation and Its Disruption Group Report

1985
The purpose of this workshop was to examine the regulation of hematopoietic differentiation in an attempt to define possible sites of leukemogenesis. In particular, we were to examine the elements of normal differentiation and growth control within cells of the hematopoietic system. Emphasis was placed on those elements of growth regulation which might be particularly likely to play a role in the process by which these cells become leukemic. An additional item of discussion was possible therapeutic strategies based on these differentiation pathways. In order to address this theme, the group considered in detail several basic questions concerning normal pathways of hematopoietic growth and differentiation.
