HOME ENVIRONMENT AND PARENTS'PSYCHOLOGIC STATUS OF CHILDREN WITH TOURETTE SYNDROME

Objective To explore the home environment and parents' psychologic status of children with TOURETTE syndrome(TS),and provide a theoretical evidence for its prevention and intervention.Methods Family Environment Scale-Chinese Version(FES-CV) and Symptom Checklist(SCL-90) were applied to assess the home environment of children with TS and mental health condition of their parents and control group.Results Compared with control group,the characteristics of home environment in children with TS were: the score of intimacy and recreation was lower(t=3.557,3.230;P0.01),whereas that of contradiction and control was higher(t=-4.184,-4.057;P0.01);the total score of SCL-90 in sick kids' parents was higher(t=-2.037,3.778;P0.05),and their fathers' scores of anxiety and compulsive were higher(t=-4.596,-3.540;P0.01),whereas that of interpersonal sensitivity and hostility were lower(t=-4.543,-1.839;P0.01,0.05);and the scores of compulsive,depression and paranoid in sick kids' mothers were significantly higher(t=2.085-4.080;P0.01,0.05),but that of hostility was lower(t=4.208,P0.01).Conclusion The TS children investigated were living in a relatively unhealth home environment.Creating a fine living environment and improving parents' mental health are crucial in the therapy and prognosis of children with TS.
