Effects of Trinexapac-Ethyl (Moddus) on Seed Yields and Its Quality of Eleven Temperate Grass Species

2013
In small plot field trials conducted for 2 years the effects of plant growth regulator (PGR) trinexapac-ethyl in selected grass species were studied. Eleven temperate grass species were used in trials: Perennial ryegrass, annual ryegrass, meadow fescue, red fescue, Kentucky bluegrass, timothy, cocksfoot, loloid and festucoid type of festulolium, yellow oat grass and tall oat grass. Evaluations were made total seed yield, thousand seed weight, germination, germination energy and number of seeds per unit. Grasses treated by PGR achieved of higher seed yield especially in consequence of higher number of seeds. The qualities of seeds (TSW, germination) were comparable to untreated control.
