The article describes how modern computer mathematical programs can be used for innovative way of teaching at an engineering university and for a "fresher" solution to the classical problem of pendulum oscillation. New types of pendulum are proposed, in particular, a diver-pendulum with a "smile" phase portrait. It is shown that linearization can be rejected when modeling the oscillations of a rigid and elastic pendulum, taking into account the resistance of the medium. The scenario of a lesson at an engineering university using STEM technology is described.
