‘이/가’, ‘은/는’의 정보적 기능과 문법 기술

This article explores a comprehensive approach to the grammatical structure of the elements of “이/가” (i/ga) and “은/는” (eun/neun) in Korean language. The postpositional particles of “i/ga” and “eun/neun” have been studied from diverse perspectives ranging from traditional to contemporary informational theories. In the preexisting researches, studies have not offered comprehensive explanations of the grammatical figures or explored the subject beyond the scope of the contrastive informational functions of these particles. In addition, the grammatical explanations of “i/ga” and “eun/neun” used to focus on the relationship to the topic-comment sentence structure, the identification as complementary element, and the cleft sentences and confirmative sentences. This study aims to complement the theoretical account of “i/ga” and “eun/neun” by taking a more general and comprehensive approach to explain the grammatical phenomena from the viewpoint of informational functions. This article also shows various grammatical functions observed in the use of those particles.
