Reflectarray Antenna Changing Beam Direction by Polarization

Reflectarray antenna applies the reflection phase control function of a metal loaded frequency selective reflector (FSR) to the reflector antenna. If the shape and arrangement of the elements are appropriately designed, it is possible to control the reflection phases of vertical (V) and horizontal (H) polarization with a single reflectarray. In this report, a highly accurate reflectarray is investigated that uses three linear elements. The results of the analysis demonstrate that the mutual coupling between the H and V components reduces and the effect of manufacturing error is minimized. Consequently, it is inferred that the beam could be emitted in different directions for each polarization.
