Relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and colorectal polyps

Objective To investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and colorectal polyps. Methods The clinical data of 1 843 patients who underwent colonoscopy and Hp test in Qingyuan People’s Hospital of Jinan University from January 2015 to December 2016 were collected, of which 910 cases with colorectal polyps (polyps group), and 65 cases with colorectal cancer (cancer group) were found by colonoscopy. And 868 cases without polyps, checked by colonoscopy, were selceted as control group. Hp infection were compared among polyps group, cancer group and control group. Results The Hp infection rate in Polyps group (48.9%) and cancer group (52.3%) were higher than that in control group (37.1%), and the difference was statistically significant (P 0.05. Conclusions Hp infection can increase the risk of occurrence of colorectal polyps. Key words: Helicobacter pylori; Colorectal polyps; Correlation
